Combine ingredients in cocktail shaker with cracked ice, shake and strain into a pre-chilled Martini glass. Express grapefruit peel over the glass, rub it around the rim, and drop it into the liquid.
The Diana Ross Cocktail was created by Australian mixologist Alam Rivas, who perfected the cocktail at the Canvas Club in Brisbane, Australia. Rivas got inspired by Ross' 1980 disco song Upside Down and followingly tributed his creation to the American singer. According to Alam Rivas the cocktail resembles an inverted Martini, heavy on the apéritif and light on the base spirit (dry gin) and the mixture is shaken for five seconds rather then stirred, making the flavors more delicate and aromatic.
